I’m new to this blog circle thing – I’ve seen some great ones so when the opportunity came up in one of my favourite internet hangouts, I jumped on board. What’s a blog circle? Well, we pick a theme, all right blog posts, and then you click from post to post and follow the blogs around the world. After you’ve read my post please head over to the next blogger, Hays KS Photographer, Kelsey Stremel. From Newcastle to Kansas in one jump, that’s pretty cool!
And then I got slammed by June. June, man, June sucked for me this year. My husband’s beloved grandfather died and we drove a 28hr round trip for his funeral (thank goodness for family). When we got back, we moved house – actually, in one weekend we moved out of two houses and into one. Then the following Tuesday, a friend and collaborator of mine, the endlessly talented and inspirational Faerie Emilie passed away. Em and I worked together in 2010 to create a bodypainting calendar, some of which you can see here: http://embodyart.com/. Keep an eye out in this post for my best Emilie keepsake – her beloved red Vespa, known affectionately as Suzy Q, which I bought from Emilie when she made her big move to Bellingen.
On top of that, I was told that the foot pain and stiffness I’ve been suffering for ~18 months is due to a small fracture in my right foot, and oh, I might possibly have arthiritis.
June sucked. Hug your loved ones, please!
But now it’s July, and I’ve come off autopilot. Today is Arlo’s 6th birthday (!!!) and soon we’re heading off to pick up his brand new bike and helmet. It’s pouring with rain, of course, so he won’t be able to use it today. The rest of the day will be spent baking and decorating Star Wars biscuits (cookies for my North American readers) for his party on Sunday. And I thought I’d better do my blog post now or I’ll never get to it!
This month’s theme was shooting at f/8. This is something I rarely do, and when I do, it’s landscapes. So it was great wandering around my house looking for suitable subjects. The play of light and shadows in our new place is endlessly catching my eye, so I worked with that a little.
And, of course, there’s Arlo photos as well!

I am sorry for your loss, that old saying when it rains it pours seemed to be your June. But what beautiful pictures! I always love to look in windows of homes as we drive by because I think mine is so boring! Your images are gorgeous at f/8!
I love the first few shots of Arlo with his hair flying about. I wish I could send you a hug and I hope Arlo had a very happy birthday. I really enjoyed your f8 post!
