My name is Xantheand this is What Xanthe Saw

I’m Xanthe, and I’m Chief Executive Officer of Awesome at What Xanthe Saw.
I will follow you around and take your picture, because that’s my job. And I love it.
As a child I dreamed of becoming a palaeontologist or archaeologist (it’s still my secret dream for when I grow up!). I have been a volunteer firefighter,  a wildlife carer and a childcare worker. I’ve worked in a scuba shop and at a bakery, and on a whim I once opened a fibre crafts shop with a friend.
I once got trapped on a rollercoaster and laughed the whole time. I went to school in Japan for a little while in my childhood. I’ve had a brief conversation with Queen Elizabeth (she liked my dress). I drum in a Brazilian Samba percussion group called Sambafrog, and sing in an a capella group called Tamarillo. In what little spare time I have, I love to knit.
I love my husband and my son and my daughter, with coffee coming in a close fourth. I watch Doctor Who, Time Team and Grand Designs; I read Terry Pratchett (may he GNU), Jane Austen and Agatha Christie (although my favourite literary genre is non-fiction maritime disaster stories – you should see how dog-eared my copy of The Perfect Storm is!)
I love the sound of rain, the way sunlight shines through a jar of honey, and throwing sand into the ocean at night to see the phosphorescence. Bright colours make my world a happy place. Travelling is my joy.
I love Newcastle and all its quirks. It’s a beautiful place to live and love.
